What are First Year Success (FYS) Math Recitation courses?

FYS Math Recitation courses are instructor-supervised learning sessions designed to supplement and enhance the course material from FYS math courses.  These courses provide a structured environment for small group sessions where students will study and work together on mathematics.  Each FYS Math Recitation course has a Recitation Instructor (RI) appointed by the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, and a Supplemental Instructor (SI) appointed by the FYS program.  The RI and SI will work together with the students to help them learn the course material during the recitation class time.  All students in the FYS math course must also attend the linked Math Recitation course.

Who is required and eligible to take FYS Math Recitation?

All students enrolled in the FYS Program taking a MTH 1080, MTH 1110, MTH 1112 or  MTH 1310 must also enroll in a corresponding  Math Recitation course:  MTH FY08,  MTH  FY11, MTH FY12 or MTH FY31 respectively.  Only these FYS math students are eligible for the Math Recitation courses.
